Working with parents

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in my childcare services. I feel that registered childminders are a good choice of childcare as they are a loving home setting.

I provide a warm, safe, friendly, home environment with a family atmosphere in which children feel valued, can play, learn and develop. Children will receive a lot of individual attention whilst enjoying interaction with others.

Continuity of Care

I provide care in a loving family environment for children from six weeks old through to thirteen years of age. This allows for continuity of care unrivalled by any other form of childcare and provides children from a very young age a valuable source of support. Siblings can be cared for together, as they would in your own home, there is no ‘baby room’ or ‘toddler room’ segregation.

Professional Approach

As a registered childminder I have full list of working policies which are available via email for all parents to view and are given to ALL parents who decide to place their child in my care. These help parents to understand my views and practices. These polices cover areas including Health & Safety, Child protection, Behaviour Management and more.

Equal Opportunities

I give all children in my care the opportunity to reach their full potential. This means adapting an activity to the child's ability and stage of development. I will provide additional resources or giving one child more attention and support than others during a particular activity or routine.

All children in my care are given the opportunity to play with all the toys. No toys are just for girls or just for boys. I try to ensure my toys reflect positive images of children and people from different cultures and with different abilities. I have toys and resources that challenge stereotypical ideas on what careers are open to men and women.

No child in my care will be discriminated against in anyway, whether for their skin colour, culture, gender, ability or religion. I will challenge any remarks that I feel are inappropriate.

I encourage the children in my care to learn more about their own culture and to find out about the culture and religions of other children. We do this in a fun way through sharing books, colouring sheets, cooking and eating food from around the world and celebrating special festivals. I will provide resources such as woks and chopsticks, dressing up clothes and multicultural skin tone crayons and pencils.

I encourage the children to develop a healthy respect of each other’s differences and to value everyone as an individual.

I encourage Parents to share with us any festivals, special occasions or artefacts, which may enhance the children's learning and understanding.

Everyday Fun

Learning & Play

I will provide suitable development experiences appropriate to the age and stage of development of each child. I will support and stimulate children’s social, physical, intellectual, communication and emotional development and build learning into everyday activities rather than ‘formal learning’.

Daily Activities

A variety of activities will be carried out durning the day depending on the age of the children in my care. Colouring, reading, painting, puzzles, creative play and many more will be offered. If parents want children who are coming to me from school to start their homework, I would be happy to do this. I will take children on outings which will include visits to local parks, libraries, stay and play sessions and many more.
